Another terrific custom job from Clarence, CL Custom 9X23 Limited is
based on WA Government. By the time this pistol is made, the WA Hi-capacity
is not out yet, therefore the frame is a combination of metal upper frame
(Hong Kong made) and SV custom lower frame. The grip
is given a special colour job to give the gun a sporty feel. Magazine is
modified from Tanaka H&K P-8 and it can hold 18 rounds of BB.
Slide is made from metal (Hong Kong made as well) and the markings
is M1911A1 9X23mm from Springfield Armory. Metal slide like this
is pretty hard to find and the installation of Bo-Mar sight is a first
for metal slide. Bull barrel is ported by
six alongside with the slide and the chamber
is custom made by steel with special markings. Custom job on the
chamber alone will cost at least 20,000 yen. The SV
style hammer is steel as well and only limited number are produced.
In order to give the gun a touch of detail, care are taken to choose the
parts. Ed Brown beavertail is used as it is best looking available.
Magazine well is from STI to provide
a smoother reload. Double-side safety is from model gun and some
adjustments are needed in order to make the safety works.
“Special” is the word to describe this 9X23 Limited as all parts of
this custom gun are a bit different from traditional double column race
gun. Will you use this gun for competition? I will not as this
gun is so handsome that I would rather treat it as a collectors' item.
